What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is simply removing the critical faculty that separates the conscious and unconscious minds so that a person has access to their full mental capacity. We all have a conscious and an unconscious part to our minds. The unconscious is in control of all those aspects of you that you do not need to spend the time thinking about, such as keeping your heart beating. The conscious mind is where you make your everyday decisions and thought. The act of being hypnotised is to relax your conscious critical mind to the point where the unconscious  non critical mind can be accessed easily. The unconscious mind has no judgemental ability and will accept whatever it hears as being absolutely correct. This allows the therapist to reprogram your mind to think the way you need it to think in order to achieve a goal that you will have chosen prior to being hypnotised. Although we all think that we are consciously in charge of our lives in reality we are programmed by what our unconscious mind took in when we were quite small. Consequently we find ourselves doing one thing while thinking something quite different. Why can't we stop smoking or stop overeating when we know it is bad for us and we consciously want to stop? The answer is always in the programming of the unconscious mind.  Hypnotherapy is currently  the fastest way to gain praxis, the integration of thought with behaviour. The reason for this is it gains direct access to the subconscious mind, dealing directly with the source of the problem.

Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes it is possible to hypnotise anyone. The degree of hypnosis reached is largely dependent on the willingness of the participant and the skills of the Hypnotherapist.

Will I be aware and will I remember everything afterwards?
You will be aware of all that is going on for as long as you feel the need to remain aware. Everyone enters hypnosis to a different level depending on their feelings at that time on that day. Every hypnosis session may be slightly different for you for that very reason. When you feel completely at ease and have full trust with your Hypnotherapist you are likely to allow yourself to go deeper into trance, you may no longer feel the need to consciously remember everything that happened during a session. It is important that you realise that your are the one in control of your mind at all times.

Will I lose control, can you make me do anything against my will or moral code?
Absolutely not! You are in full control of your mind at all times. The therapist is merely the tool that guides your mind to take the actions, solve the problems, and leads you into a more positive and healthy state which YOU have chosen. If a therapist were even to suggest anything against your moral code your mind would instantly reject it.
